have a great day. we are following breaking news th mningngngngngngngngngngngngngngngngngngngngngngng a virginia beach home was damaged in an early morning fire. crews were called to a home on glenfield court just before three this morning-- that s in the first colonial estates area. when crews got there -- fire was coming from a second flood bedroom. we )re told firefighters kept it from spreading, but there is a lot of smoke damage. two people inside breathed in too much smoke, but didn t go to the hospital. no word yet on how it started. new this morning in chesapeake: a vacant building was damaged in late night fire. fire crews were called to a fire near woodland drive and reef knot court just after midnight last night--that s in the western branch section of the city. crews way when they got there -- a building was fully engulfed. the fire was under control in a half an hour. no one was hurt. the cause of the fire is under investigation.

in portsmouth police say two people walked into a hospital last night -- both shot. police say the shooting happened in the cavalier manor section of portsmouth. officers say the two men walked into bon secours maryview medical center just before 8-30 last night. they )re both expected to survive. if you have any information call the crime line at 1-888-lock-u-up in york county a dramatic and daring rescue saves a woman from a burning home. the fire happened just after one yesterday afternoon at the harwood mills trailer park. an off duty firefighter, neighbors, and a sheriff deputy were among those who rescued a woman from the trailer. she was trapped and went unconscious in the back of the home. neighbors and first responders tore down part of the wall to the home to get to her. outcue: ".. here were trying to get her out. ... it was a combined efforta another person in the house had minor injuries -- but should be okay. the cause of the fire is still under investigation.a1 you can take action against crime in virginia beach: investigators want to find the person who robbed the skinny dip on providence road just before nine last night. officers did not say what the person got away with -- but say that person did have a weapon. no one was hurt. if you know anything-- take action against crime and call the crime line. in hampton a good samaritan - robbed at gunpoint. hampton police tell newschannel three the victim stopped to help a man and woman he believed were having car trouble near ft monroe on sunday. when he pulled up to the couple - the man pulled a gun - and took money from the good samaritan. the suspects took off on a motorcycle. the victim was not hurt. several people are recovering this morning-- police say their car crashed into a post office

it happened at the post office on north battlefield boulevard around 12-30 yesterday afternoon. the driver crashed their car into the front of the building from a parking space. seven people were hurt. police are looking into why it happened. no more vaping at virginia restaurants? that will be the law if one state senator has his way. protecting the k-9 officers that help protect you! money continues to come in for new vests to help keep them safe.

new details k-9 officers from across hampton roads will now get bullet-proof vests - thanks to an outpouring of generosity from c-n-n s anderson cooper - and the public too. the newport news police department posted on facebook yesterday that fundraising from spike )s k-9 fund and leftover money from cooper s donation made it possible. they will buy six new vests. that )s one for every k-9 officer in newport news. they said the loss of norfolk police k-9 kriger earlier this problem. k-9 officers in norfolk - portsmouth - suffolk - chesapeake and virginia beach will also - get vests. cooper s donation - plus community outreach efforts will cover the cost of the vests - which cost 22- hundred dollars each. cooper will be at chrysler hall in norfolk tonight speaking at an event.

that )s what a virginia state senator is proposing. legislation introduced by district one senator john miller -- would ban e-cigarettes and vape products in restaurants and other public places like malls and theaters. senator miller says his reasoning -- is to prevent exposure to the vapor. the owner of e-cig city in virginia beach tells newschannel 3 -- he agrees that people need to be respectful on where they vape. but he feels the senator )s reasoning -- is wrong. 15;29 there is no difference from vaping in a room and a room without vaping as opposed to cigarettes which has so many chemicals 16;00 it should be up to the business owners if they want to allow it or not it shouldn t be mandatory by a state or county or cities senator miller tells newschannel 3 he expects the local government committee to hear the bill in the next week or two. his hope is that after that -- it will move to the senate for a vote. the co-founder of ben & jerry s

police are investigating a machete attack! it happened yesterday afternoon on cobblestone drive- that )s just off lynnhaven parkway. officers say the victim got stabbed in the hand - and will be okay. police say the victim knew his attacker. no word on whether anyone was arrested. new details the owners of the sunken cargo ship el faro have reached a settlement with ten of the crew )s families. court documents say tote maritime will pay each of the 10 families 500-thousand- dollars to settle pending lawsuits. el faro sank last october after getting caught in a hurricane near the bahamas--killing 33 people on board. five of the families filed a claim saying el faro was overdue for repairs. the company says it did everything to ensure the safety of its crew. most of the snow and ice is gone -- but a few schools are still closed or delaying classes.

two-anti- abortion activists have been andicted in a planned parenthood video controversy. the videos appeared to suggest that planned parenthood illegally sold fetal tissue and organs. david daleiden and sandra merritt are charged with tampering of a governmental record. daleiden leads an anti- abortion group that released the planned parenthood videos. planned parenthood alleges the group edited the footage to suggest it sells fetal tissue for profit. for the first time we are hearing from one of the six teens in a picture that sparked allegations of racism and hate.

phoenix posed for a picture wearing t-shirts with letters on them. standing together, the teens spelled out the n-word. the photo quickly went viral, and sparked outrage nationwide. outcue: "..
